![]() SquidMan is intercepting that request and re-directing it from Sony's servers to a backed up copy of the P.T. What we're doing is requesting the file for P.T. I won't get too into the weeds with the explanation. I'm not sure if these were errors in how it was originally written or if Squid had just changed how it handled commands since the original guide was written. All that needed to be done to run this was a few modifications of Orangelupa's squid template providing instructions for how the proxy server handles the request from the PS4. ![]() Too often the reply for Mac users is "just dual boot Windows or install a VM," but this is frequently unnecessary. I had dual booting set up on a late 2008 MacBook, but from poking around in the information that Orangelupa provided I figured that there was no reason this couldn't work natively in macOS. All credit goes to Orangpelupa, because I'm basically just modifying his work for macOS. Then word started getting out that the game was being removed so thoroughly that you couldn't even re-download it.Īfter some time, a method surfaced for re-downloading the game using a proxy. When they made the announcement that it was being removed from PSN, I quickly went and "purchased" the game and felt pretty confident that I'd be able to play it when I did have a PS4. I didn't have a PlayStation 4 until 2016, but being a fan of Kojima and Silent Hill I was very aware of P.T. I have edited a few things for clarity and added new information. As of, this is tested and working under PS4 system software 8.52, macOS 10.15.7 and Squidman 4.2. Update: This guide was originally written on. On macOS Before you start reading this, please be aware that this will ONLY work if you have previously purchased P.T. Since Squidman is meant moreso for simple http proxy enabling, so I guess they decided to leave off the instant messenger ports by default.Re-Download P.T. 5190 handles the AIM connection and ICQ, 1863 handles the MSN connection, 5222 handles gmail talk, and 5050 handles yahoo chat. Find the line in the prefs that starts with “acl SSL_ports port ” and change the entire line to “acl SSL_ports p5050 5190 5222″. Then, in Squidman, go to the “Template” section of the preferences. First of all (though a bit tedious), change all your accounts in Adium to use a proxy and set it to the systemwide HTTP settings in the drop down menu. However, the trick for Adium is not too bad. I also had some trouble with my instant messenger accounts that I use through Adium. I have yet to have luck with Transmit, unfortunately, which is by far my favorite FTP app for macs. This ostensibly allows you to leave your proxy settings the same everywhere you go, and if you need to hook into a new proxy server, just change it in the Squidman parent proxy preference. Then, create a new network settings configuration, and point your proxy connections to localhost:3128. Basically, the idea here is that you can set up squid to run a local proxy, by default on localhost at port 3128. ![]() ![]() ![]() One solution I’ve been playing around with today is Squidman, which is a simple OSX application that lets you run squid on your mac (there are other ways, but this was easiest). Even Firefox 2.0 doesn’t seem to pick up the proxy settings from your system network prefs, so changing proxies is more than just changing your location in the apple menu in OSX. Actually, its not too bad, but unfortunately, some applications don’t play well with location proxy settings. So my work these days is a bit more locked down than in previous engagements, which makes for some interesting problems. ![]()
